Vacancy Announcement: Administrative, Public Affairs and Accounting Assistant 

Role: To perform administrative, public affairs, and accounting duties to facilitate the Mission’s diplomatic engagements and advance Grenada’s foreign policy agenda. 

Duties and Responsibilities: The range of duties will vary according to the exigencies of the High Commission but includes the following: 

  • Manage the diary of the Head of Mission including invitations. 
  • Manage travel arrangements for the Head of Mission and visiting government officials. 
  • Maintain Embassy databases including government contacts and nationals in the diaspora. 
  • Organize and assist with functions hosted or supported by the High Commission. 
  • Attend meetings as directed by the Head of Mission 
  • Draft and electronically file all internal and external forms of communication including diplomatic correspondence and official letters. 
  • Serve as the Public Affairs Assistant with responsibility for drafting press releases and social media content, including any other forms of public-facing messaging as directed by the Head of Mission. 
  • Assist the First Secretary with the preparation of monthly accounts for Capital. 
  • Adhere to office protocol and procedures. 
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Head of Mission. 

Candidate Profile: To be eligible, the following qualifications and competencies are required: 

  • Degree in a discipline of relevance to the role of Administrative, Public Affairs, and Accounting Assistant or relevant professional experience in the diplomatic field. 
  • Minimum of five years relevant work experience.
  • Strong IT skills with expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, social media and videography. This will be tested. 
  • The legal right to work in the United Kingdom. 
  • High degree of integrity and trust. 
  • Excellent inter-personal, communication, presentation, networking and reporting skills. 
  • The ability to understand, collate, report and communicate complex information. 
  • Excellent command of the English language and strong writing and communication skills. This will be tested. 
  • Initiative and the ability to work with a small team. 
  • Excellent customer service skills. 
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills. 
  • Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure. 
  • The applicant must be agreeable to extended working hours outside of the stated 9 to 5, to include weekends and bank holidays. 
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 25 and 45 

In addition to the above competencies, the following criteria are desirable: 

  • A foreign language 
  • Accounting experience 
  • Office management experience 
  • Public relations experience 
  • A working knowledge of regional and international issues 
  • Experience working in an International Organization or Diplomatic Mission
