Devonshire Club: the City of London’s most exclusive Private Members’ Club

Last year, a glamorous new private members club, the Devonshire Club, opened its doors after a £25 million renovation of its prime location just minutes walk from Liverpool Street Station. Devonshire Square is one of the City’s most iconic business and leisure destinations.

Occupying six floors of a listed nineteenth century Regency warehouse, this exclusive haven is spread over 58,000 square feet and has some impressive facilities. The club offers 68 luxury bedrooms and suites, available for booking by both members and non-members. These rooms have elegant 1950s designs featuring Hypnos beds with 300 Purcell Irish cotton bed linen. Prices start from £200 per night (room only, excluding VAT).

Members and guests also have use of the Club’s buzzy brasserie, which is one of only 12 restaurants in the UK to have been awarded a certificate from the Hyogo Prefecture allowing it to serve authentic Kobe beef.  A seasonal menu, it offers delicious food including British classics, as well as a large oyster bar serving an array of shellfish, ceviche and sashimi.

There are also four private dining rooms, a screening room, three bars (Champagne bar, Library bar and Cocktail bar), a beautiful internal winter garden with cigar terrace and an external garden. Next door the Club has recently launched a new space, No.4 Wellness. Again open to non-members, this wellness centre takes care of physical health, beauty, grooming, mindfulness and spirituality over three floors of a Georgian townhouse. This sanctuary boasts a private gymnasium with Pilates studio and weights room, a beauty salon, four private treatment rooms with treatments from Elemis and 111SKIN.

With the aim is to make The Devonshire Club one of the leading private members’ clubs in the world, it is run by celebrated industry figure CEO Brian Clivaz and General Manager Ian Palmer. Together they opened Home House in the 1990s and reinvigorated The Arts Club in 2011. With none of the stuffy formality normally associated with London’s members clubs, The Devonshire Club is an unbeatable combination of a professional but relaxed place to work, have meetings, entertain, and also enjoy yourself.
