DIPLOMATIC CONCIERGE: No matter how big or small, Venetia van Kuffeler finds the Royal Lancaster London can cater to all your needs

MANY OF YOU will know the Royal Lancaster London (formerly known as Lancaster London) from attending various national days in their ballroom. The building holds one of the largest banqueting venues in Europe with room for 3,000 guests across its 16 refurbished meetings and events spaces.

Three years ago, Royal Lancaster London unveiled a new design following an £80 million renovation by its Thai owners. Overlooking Hyde Park, the hotel was completely transformed both internally and externally. Royal Lancaster London has an illustrious history: scenes for The Italian Job with Michael Caine were filmed in the building, and events have been attended by Mohammed Ali, Princess Diana and, just a few months ago, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Famously, the hotel also hosted the after-party for The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine film premiere, which The Beatles attended in the Yellow Submarine Nightclub.

Today, The Royal Lancaster London boasts some of the city’s largest event spaces. With a range of stylish meeting and conference rooms, the hotel can cater for every type and size of gathering from two up to well over 1,000 guests. Hosting fabulous events for over 50 years, the property takes pride in providing truly personalised service and guest experiences.

The hotel’s scale and location are ideal for sizeable conferences and meetings whilst some beautiful spaces provide a perfect backdrop for special occasions.

The contemporary Forest Suites provide for small to medium scale presentations, meetings and gatherings whilst the magnificent Westbourne Suite and Nine Kings Suite have private entrances and pillar-free space, which work perfectly for many of London’s most prestigious grand scale events.

The 1,000 square metre Westbourne Suite has a sweeping marble staircase that makes a grand entrance from the hotel lobby. Furthermore, the Westbourne Suite’s large off-street access provides easy delivery and installation, making this a choice venue for events that require some production. It can seat up to 900 for dinner or house 1,500 for a stand-up reception.

The Nine Kings Suite’s scale and adaptability are a winning combination, providing a spectacular venue divisible into separate areas. Both the large foyer, ideal for receptions, and the main area enjoy natural light whilst after dark, dazzling chandeliers can be lowered to instantly create an enchanting, glamorous ambience. The Nine Kings Suite has a revealing wall that when lifted can increase the capacity dramatically – its state-of-the-art technology is beyond impressive. The space can seat up to an impressive 1,150 people, or have 1,500 for a reception.

In terms of mid-size, the striking Beech Suite makes an impression with dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows revealing views over Hyde Park. This quiet and private space can accommodate up to 200 either as a single meeting room or cleverly partitioned into three separate areas.

Much talked about, the Senses Room was conceived to offer an astounding audiovisual preview of a major event, be it a gala, luncheon or dinner. Guests can experience every aspect of their planned event, from LED lighting, decor and music whilst exploring the finest menu tastings. The room accommodates up to eight people at a time, and this experience is offered complimentary to all clients who have a booked event. Guests can also reserve the Senses Room without a booked event alongside. A fantastic opportunity to enjoy fine dining in the theatrical setting of a busy events kitchen!
