hotleVenetia van Kuffeler enjoys a stay at InterContinental London Park Lane

Found at one of the capital’s most prestigious addresses, InterContinental London Park Lane is the flagship property for one of the world’s largest hotel companies. On our visit in late September, the hotel was buzzing with guests from all over the globe.

Inspired by its location overlooking the Royal Parks, the hotel’s 387 elegant rooms and 60 suites have elegant, natural interiors, with sweeping views of London from the large windows overlooking the capital. Our room on the second floor provided a bird’s-eye view of Wellington Arch and the New Zealand War Memorial on Hyde Park Corner. The hotel’s suite collection comes complete with 24-hour butler service that includes the newly designed Royal Suite and By Appointment Collection that pays homage to the hotel’s location on the site of 145 Piccadilly, Queen Elizabeth II’s former childhood residence. The timeless design encapsulates signature styles from Her Majesty’s early life through to the present. Found on the eighth floor, the position offers panoramic views of the Royal Parks and the four interconnecting rooms can be joined to create a five bedroom, five bathroom space totaling 196.7m² – one of the largest offerings in the capital. Furthermore, the hotel’s London Suite, which is a duplex apartment-style offering, can also be interconnected to create a 350m² space.

Club InterContinental on the seventh floor is available exclusively to suite guests, and offers floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the London skyline. Providing a little more privacy as well as beautiful views, Club guests can enjoy all-day refreshments, breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails, champagne and canapés.

Celebrated chef Theo Randall prepares rustic Italian fare with the finest seasonal ingredients in his buzzing eponymous restaurant, Theo Randall at the InterContinental. The venue combines exemplary service with award-wining seasonal cuisine and is well worth the trip, even if you are not staying in the hotel.

Breakfast is served in the Cookbook Café, where the market table is brimming with all the fruit, yoghurt, muesli, breads, cheeses and meats that you could imagine. A chef is on hand to cook eggs, waffles and any other hot items at your request. At the weekend, the restaurant’s unlimited brunch has created a name for itself in the capital.

And with a dedicated meetings and events floor offering state-of-the-art facilities with expansive views of Hyde Park and Park Lane, it seems the InterContinental London Park Lane has something for everyone.
