DIPLOMATIC CONCIERGE: Henry’s Townhouse

Those missions planning high-level delegations in 2021 should consider the newly opened Henry’s Townhouse, a Georgian property ideally set up for private hire just a stone’s throw from Hyde Park

FOUND IN A GRADE II listed building at No.24 Upper Berkeley Street, the newly opened Henry’s Townhouse soft launched in December 2020. This design collaboration between owners Jane and Steven Collins and the award-winning Russell Sage Studio has culminated in a glamorous reimaging of the Regency period. A property steeped in history, it is reported that Jane Austen’s favourite brother Henry lived with his wife Eliza in the house for many years. The home is even referenced in some of her novels, including Sense and Sensibility.

Today, Henry’s Townhouse is ideally set up for private hire, and the designers have taken inspiration from Henry and Eliza’s reported life in the private house. The building comprises seven elegant and elaborately designed ensuite bedrooms, each with its own unique narrative to tell. A handful of beautiful and varied social spaces ensures the townhouse fits every occasion whether business or pleasure. Monsieur Halavant’s Pantry is ideal for intimate dining or meetings, the cosy Carriage Snug or Terrace is ideal for evening aperitifs and Jane’s Sitting Room for afternoon teas or pre-dinner entertaining.

Combine this with your very own first-class chef and house staff on hand to tend to your every whim, and place it in one of London’s most enviable locations and you have the perfect recipe for luxury private hire whatever the occasion. Every aspect of the design has been painstakingly thought out with rich fabrics and colour palettes, sophisticated antiques and the finest modern in-room amenities taking a home-away-from-home stay to a new level.

The property is best taken in its entirety as an exclusive home making it ideal for families, VIPs or groups looking for luxury, privacy and a central location. Rates start from £4,950 per night for exclusive use for up to 14 and include a full breakfast, well-stocked mini bar with ‘Best of British’ products, evening aperitifs and tea and treats every afternoon.

Furthermore, guests can combine their stay with a trip to picturesque sister property Temple Guiting Manor in the Cotswolds.  Set in 14.5 acres of beautiful landscaped grounds, Temple Guiting Manor and Barns sleeps up to 34 adults plus two children if you take the entire estate.
