MOTORING: ARE YOU READY TO MAKE THE SWITCH TO THE “BEST BRITISH-BUILT CAR OF 2020”?

INTRODUCING THE MINI ELECTRIC.

Sustainability is a huge focus for MINI, as they continuously look to improve and innovate their iconic range. But what does this really mean for the classic MINI? What does making the switch involve? How will it drive? What will it be like to live with? Discover some of the key benefits to switching here, quell any range or lifestyle concerns and hopefully join us in thinking… “well this just makes sense!’”

FEEL ELECTRIC.

With the release of the latest generation MINI Electric in March, dart from 0-62mph in a mere 7.3 seconds. Great for nipping around congested areas or cruising the motorway whilst enjoying a range of between 140 – 145 miles*.

For longer journeys, fear not! With Rapid DC Charging, available at the 14,000 charging stations nationwide^, you can go from 0-86 per cent charge in just 36 minutes. Just enough time to grab a welcome break, coffee and then to be back on your way. However, more on charging shortly.

SPACE FOR EVERYONE.

The MINI Electric’s versatile and clever use of space, thanks to the T shaped battery located under the seats, mean there is ample room for golf trips, staycation adventures, school or grocery runs.

SAVINGS.

Whilst better all round for the environment, making the electric switch also involves substantial savings. It is around three quarters cheaper than a petrol or diesel variant costing as little as 4p per mile. The MINI Electric is also exempt from paying road tax, as well as London’s congestion charge and eligible for a £2,500 government grant towards the cost of a new vehicle.

As a member of the diplomatic community, further savings can be made through the BMW Group Diplomatic Sales Programme, which offers members preferential discounts across their entire range of vehicles, including the MINI Electric and BMW i electric and PHEV ranges. Discounts come direct from the team at their flagship store location on Park Lane, in London’s Mayfair. With the ability to purchase either online or instore with a nationwide direct delivery service**.

CHARGING.

Access the UK’s largest network of charging points with  the MINI ChargeNow charging card. With charging points shown directly in your MINI’s navigation system and within your current range – complete convenience with you in mind.

Installation of a home Wallbox can also help reduce any charging concerns you may have, whilst reducing charging time from 12 hours to just over 3 hours (0-80 per cent). You can also pre-set your charge timing preferences to benefit from lower cost energy times.

If you have off-street parking, you may also be eligible for the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS), this grant pays £350 towards the cost and installation of a Wallbox charger at your home.

CONNECTIVITY.

Nothing is compromised in switching to a MINI Electric – the interior offers just as much tech as any combustion MINI – with some new features added to the recent LCI version, which now includes head up digital display, a panoramic sunroof and larger centre display screen, so you can stay connected at all times.

In addition to this, the MINI app is the digital partner to your vehicle allowing you to conveniently control a variety of functions remotely, check your charge level, lock and unlock your car remotely and locate charging stations.

Aesthetically, the MINI electric is just as customisable as you’d expect, with three levels of personalisation and equipment spec available.

Why not see if the MINI Electric could complement your style?

HEAR FROM THOSE WHO’VE SWITCHED.

“I was pleasantly surprised how easily I fit the MINI Electric into my lifestyle.”

“So much more power than I thought it would have, it’s not what you’d expect.”
